Homes & Land at Killick Ecovillage

Envision your life at Killick with our design sketches & home plans!

Killick Ecovillage has been created by a group of people who came together to design and implement a custom neighbourhood. The ecovillage is based on the international model of cohousing, a best practice for creating community-centred neighbourhoods that enable relationship-building, active lifestyle, sustainability (social, environmental and financial), aging-in-place, and a balance of dense development and land preservation.

The Homes at Killick Ecovillage

Killick Ecovillage will include 51 homes ranging from 600sqft to 1400sqft and 6000sqft in 2 shared amenities buildings referred to as the “Common Houses”.

The process included first determining goals for how and where people wanted to live, defining the spaces that would achieve their objectives, and situating these on the project site in a way that was community-centred, practical, and feasible. For instance, parking is strategically located on the periphery so that people can navigate the spaces between the houses actively and safely.

Sightlines, access to natural light, fully visitable homes, and edible landscaping all drove the site design, while energy efficiency, reduced use of resources and universal design guided the home design.

About the Land

Killick Ecovillage will be home to a 51-unit mixed-income neighborhood, thoughtfully designed on just five acres of a 57-acre property.

The land stretches along Northeast Pond, where residents can enjoy swimming, fishing, and boating, all while sharing space with the local wildlife. Seasonal streams wind through the property and will be restored with native forest plantings, creating natural corridors for birds and animals while keeping the ecosystem healthy. These waterways connect with food forests and green spaces, weaving nature right into the fabric of the community. Between them, open pasture will be cared for with regenerative farming practices, offering both beauty and abundance for those who live here.
