At Killick Ecovillage, we acknowledge that we are gathering and building community on the unceded lands of the Beothuk and Mi'kmaq peoples. From the beginning, we have asked what it means to create this community in ways that support decolonization and reconciliation. We are still learning, but we are committed to making decisions by consensus, conserving and caring for the land, protecting wetlands and wildlife, growing food in harmony with nature, seeking diversity in our membership, building authentic relationships with Indigenous communities, and treating reconciliation as an ongoing practice rather than a checkbox. We hold ourselves accountable, and we invite you to do the same.
