How to become a member of Killick Ecovillage's intentional community:

Take the first steps towards your future home.

Is Killick Ecovillage right for you?  There are several ways to begin exploring this.

During the development stage of the project, there are three types of community membership to help you learn more and decide if Killick Ecovillage is right for you:

  • Become an Explorer Member

This is a good place to start if you are already quite interested and want to know more about the people, how decisions are made, what the homes and common house will look like, and how much it costs. Explorer Members participate in decision making, attend social events, and get to know other members by working together on a Circle (or committee.)

Being an Explorer Member for six months is a requirement to become a full Resident Member. The cost is $250+hst. While being an Explorer Member, you can decide if you want Killick Ecovillage as your future home.

  • Or, Become a Social Member

Some people may prefer to become a Social Member as their first step. Social Members can follow the developments in our thriving community through the Newsletter and Facebook posts. They are welcome at Killick social events, can help on the farm and enjoy member pricing of farm products.

Social Members can renew their membership annually. They may or may not decide to become Explorer Members. The annual fee is $40+hst.

  • Become a Resident Member

Say yes to living at Killick! When your household has decided that you want to live in the community, you secure a spot by requesting to purchase a share.  Once approved, you become co-owners of the Cooperative by purchasing a share of $1,000.

Next, you enter into an agreement with the co-op to put your name on a specific unit in the community and provide the minimum initial loan, currently set at $15,000. This can be arranged through a payment plan or other special agreement, determined on a case-by-case basis in a confidential consultation with a dedicated Sub-Circle, following the Affordability Pathway.

Once construction is completed and the homes are ready for moving in, the MHOS model (including Membership, Lease and Debt Obligations Agreements) will be in force.
